Bronze Star
Course Description: Bronze
Star is the pre-Bronze Medallion training standard and
excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion.
In Bronze Star, candidates develop problem-solving and
decision-making skills as individuals and in partners.
They learn self-rescue techniques, in-water searches,
CPR, water rescue skills and first aid including how
to manage a land spinal injury. Candidates also develop
stroke endurance and lifesaving fitness skills.
Pre-Requisites: Ability
to Swim 200 metres, Candidate is recommended to be at
least 12 years old.
Bronze Medallion
and Emergency First Aid
Course Description: Bronze
Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving
principles embodied in the four components of water
rescue education - judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness.
Rescuers learn self-rescue techniques, defence and release
methods, and tows and carries in preparation for challenging
rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims
of various types, including spinal injuries and circulatory
emergencies. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and
endurance in a timed swim. Bronze Medallion includes
the Emergency First Aid certification.
Pre-Requisites: Bronze
Star (Recommended)
No age pre-requisite if candidate has Bronze Star; if
not, must be 13 years by the day of the Exam
Evaluation: Items are
evaluated by a qualified Lifesaving Instructor and/or
Examiner.
Bronze Cross
Course Description: Bronze
Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge
of more advanced training including an introduction
to safety supervision in aquatic facilities. Candidates
develop proficiency at performing patient assessments,
managing aquatic spinal injuries, and preventing the
loss of life in a variety of aquatic emergencies, while
developing stroke endurance and fitness training skills.
Bronze Cross includes the CPR-C certification and is
one of the pre-requisite awards for all advanced Lifeguarding
and Leadership training programs.

Medallion and Emergengy First Aid (minimum age of 14
years)
Evaluation: Items are evaluated by a qualified Lifesaving
Instructor and/or Examiner.
CPR and First
Aid Courses
Course Description: CPR
C Basic Rescuer is an important course for everyone
in the family. You will learn vital lifesaving actions
for victims of all ages. This course allows you to properly
recognize and respond to choking, cardiovascular, and
breathing emergencies that occur with infants, children
and adults. Participants of all first aid experiences
and backgrounds are welcome.

Standard First
Aid
Course Description: SFA
is a comprehensive course which gives participants the
ability to deliver a higher level of first aid treatment
in different environments. After completion of this
course, you will be prepared for a variety of first
aid situations, both life threatening and non life threatening.
SFA includes all EFA course content plus victim management,
heat and cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, sprains,
wounds, head trauma, diabetes, burns and poisons.
SFA includes CPR Level C Basic

Canadian Red Cross
Babysitting Course
The newly revised Canadian Red Cross Babysitting
Course for 11- to 15-year-olds is the most comprehensive
way to teach youth safety, decision-making and problem-solving
skills that will help them increase respect and care
for themselves and others.
As a qualified Authorized Provider of
Canadian Red Cross First Aid training, we are proud
to offer this course through experienced facilitators
with a first aid and teaching background
ADVANCED AQUATICS
Assistant Water Safety Instructor (AWSI)
(formerly
Red Cross AQUA LEADERS)
This course is a prerequisite for Red Cross Instructors.
Candidates will learn to teach and recognize the Red
Cross Swimming program. It’s a great start to
becoming one of our homegrown instructors.
Prerequiste : 15 years
and Swim Kids 10 (or equivalent swimming ability)
Water Safety Instructor
Course (WSI)
This is a course to prepare candidates
to instruct the Water Safety Programs. Candidates experience,
analyze and apply the Red Cross and Lifesaving Society
programs curriculum. The principles of injury prevention,
inclusion and, progressive learning Candidates must
be 16 years old and have the AWSI certificate to register. National Lifeguard Certification
(N.L.S)
National
Lifeguard is Canada’s only nationally recognized
lifeguard certification program. National Lifeguard
is a legal certificate for lifeguarding throughout the
country, and the only lifeguard certificate recognized
by the province of Ontario Prerequisites:
For the revised NLS certification program, candidates
must hold Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid certifications,
and be a minimum 16 years of age.
